Top 10 reasons why kids hate school

Top 10 reasons why kids hate school

We have always had a love-hate relationship with school. We cried on the very first day of our school, as if we had a premonition of what awaited us there, strict teachers, homework, loads of books, etc. But gradually, we realized there was more to school, like friends, the games period <3, picnics, fetes. If we were to weigh the good and the bad aspects of going to school, the good would definitely outweigh the bad.

We talked to people asking them why they hated school. And here is the report card.

10. Holiday Homework

This would to most of us remind of summer vacations. We would spend the most of our time watching movies, going to hill stations, chilling with friends and exactly one week before the school reopened- havoc! But what makes children really pity themselves is the fact that even in a break of 2-3 days students are burdened with hell lot of work.

There is always one strict teacher who sends chill down your spine. That teacher, whose one look made you experience hell on earth, had the capacity to surprise you each day by finding a new fault with you. The traits to look out for would be specs, excellent at English, especially when it was about giving you an earful. Preparing for elocution

8. Star kid

That blue-eyed student who all the teachers trusted and talked about made you go green with envy. The rest of the kids including you would not even understand why the very same teachers this guy bitched about took sides with him. Just one accidental vis-à-vis with the star kid in the corridor would make you go uhrrrrr.

7. Heavy bags

Not only the on footers but also the kids commuting by bus do not like their shoulders to be weighed down by the bags, which our parents often suspect to be containing stones. Carrying registers and books for all 8 periods, is the worst thing we have ever had to do. Newspaper reports have showed us that these heavy bags are detrimental to the growth of students. The effect of heavy bags on students’ posture should be brought to the attention of concerned authorities.

6. Waking up early in the morning

6. Waking up early in the morning

Every kid hates waking up early in the morning, even the nerds! Probably, because it was the part we were reminded the very moment we heard our moms wake us up. Today, when mom wakes us up early out of habit we can happily just say, ‘Mom, I’m not in school any more’.

5. Teachers neglecting ‘talented children’ and always favoring the sycophants

5. Teachers neglecting ‘talented children’ and always favoring the sycophants

Many kids complain that their teachers are partial and that the same bunch of kids is selected for participating in all the activities. Talent remained latent at school as it was never acknowledged. This shows how depressed school kids remain these days and it is sad. Even the most genius students, at some point in their lives declared a teacher partial.

4. Discipline

4

Discipline is something kids detest the most. Boys cannot keep long hair, girls are not allowed to wear short skirts, no eye-makeup, and the list is endless. You cannot even show off your latest phone because of someone caught you with it you are going to be so dead. Some kids complain that the school is so huge that finding a friend becomes a task of herculean proportion and that it would have been a lot easier if cell phones were allowed. Well, that is a debatable subject though. Friends who were prefects would exempt us from remarks or punishments, and we would wonder if it was real help or show off of power!!

3. Unit tests/ Cycle tests

3

Unit tests, the worst invention ever, haunted us throughout our school life. It made the beautiful world of ours a lot more competitive. It was the only thing that made us have a bone to pick with our best friend!! They made us better, true that! But are we also not supposed to enjoy our childhood?

2. Short recess

A 15-minutes long break is never sufficient to have lunch and most importantly to meet friends. Some prefects were assigned duties even during the break. Because their miseries were bigger than ours, may God bless them!

1. Parent Teacher Meeting

1. Parent Teacher Meeting

Parent Teacher Meeting, the day on which (for most of us) the result would be out and it had a different meaning for different people. To some it meant just scraping through the exams somehow, and to others it meant getting the first rank. It is also the day when the teachers and parents get to gang up against the kid, which obviously the kid does not like. This trend will never change even when a movie like 3 Idiots has communicated to the Indian masses that education is not all about grades. Apparently, the idea does not really absorb into our heads.

We also got some weird yet interesting answers from people, like, one student said that she used to find her classmates whacky and there was another who her teachers were jealous of.

We learn that the school is not just an institution to impart education but it also gives us a chance to be human. It is only here that we develop so many emotions, friendship being the most important and whether good or bad, we are going to cherish all the moments we spent here.
