Procrastination is the action of delaying some task,and it is the easiest way of not achieving success in life.Most people at some point in their lives or even many times in a given month procrastinate due to many reasons that affect them, procrastination can be the result of anxiety, low self worth, self defeating mentality and perfection.Procrastination is one of the reason why smart people repeat self-defeating patterns.Procrastination starts as a handicap. Corrective actions toward progressively mastering procrastination accelerate a lifestyle change to increase your chances for health, happiness, and accomplishment. Persistence in learning and applying counter-procrastination measures is a more sure-footed way to move yourself in the direction of self-command and to grow your ability to command the controllable events that take place around you.

Usually procrastinators are not different in their ability to estimate time they would need to complete a specific task, rather they are more optimistic than other about finishing a specific task. Time management skills may not directly cure it, but managing time effectively will increase self-discipline of following and doing tasks. Growing from that one could overcome procrastination.

Procrastination is the response to an authoritarian parenting style. Having a harsh, controlling parents keeps children from developing the ability to regulate themselves, and to act efficiently under a given situation. Procrastination can even be a form of rebellion and because of such household conditions,  procrastinators turn more towards friends than to parents for support, and their friends may reinforce procrastination because they tend to be tolerant of their excuses. So procrastinators are certainly not born.

It has been proved that the procrastinators drink more than they intend to or what their capacity is.It is probably because they lack the quality of self – regulation.

7) Procrastinators tell lie to themselves


Lies such as, “I’ll feel more like doing this tomorrow” or “I work more under pressure.”But the truth is that they don’t have the urge to work the next day as well.Another big lie that procrastinators indulge into is that time pressure makes them more creative. Unfortunately they do not turn out to be more creative,they only feel that way. But by doing so they only waste their resources.

They are in particular distracted by jobs that do not require much commitment on their part. Checking e-mail is almost perfect for this purpose. They distract themselves as a way of regulating their emotions such as fear of failure.Distraction is easily possible because procrastinators are already searching methods to be lazy and delay their work and what is better for them than a easier job coming in their way on its own.

The people who procrastinate are generally prone to some health disorders than people who complete their work on time. The anxiety which is there among procrastinators because of delaying the work make them prone to more number of infectious diseases and a survey results that procrastinators usually have a weak immune system.

4) Lack of motivation is one of the reasons for procrastination

Unless and until a thing holds some importance in my life i would not like to do that thing same is the case with motivation as we try to complete a task if and only if it motivates us,so the lack of motivation to do a certain task can result in procrastination, and it eventually delays the task.

It is certainly a problem although in our culture we don’t take it seriously.Basically it represents a profound problem of self-regulation.As the procrastinators usually loose control over themselves in pursuits of delaying their work or just transferring them to somebody else. Almost all the population of the world is the victim of procrastination and to improve upon it the thing that we need to remember is that we have to do the work the moment it comes to us without preparing our minds with some sort of excuses.

Most students, executives, employees of any age tend to be victim of procrastination, which is the habit of avoiding doing the work or using excuses to do it later. Although procrastination is most of the time referred as an habit, there are studies made about if its a psychological problem or biological problem.

For procrastinators, they should know that they can stop it and instead, get themselves motivated to work. They should work on overcoming it before it gets really worse.They just have to deal with it which can be done very easily as most of the tasks that we procrastinate on aren’t actually difficult to do we  have the talent and skills to accomplish them you just have to  starting doing them for one reason or another.
