Almost 70 percent of the earth is made up of water. Yet there are many areas in the world which are suffering from shortage of water. There is a famous quote you must have heard,” water, water everywhere not a drop to drink”. Yes, it is getting true! With increasing pollution and population the water bodies are getting polluted and the shortage of drinking water is increasing day by day. You must be wondering why there is a shortage of water even when 70 percent of earth is made up of water. The reason is there is very small quantity of fresh water available. How many hours can you survive without drinking water? I m sure your answer is -not too long. What if there will be no fresh water for drinking. If we keep on wasting water at the rate we are doing right now, there will come a day when we will be striving to survive. Water is equivalent to life. Every living organism requires water for its survival. Our body is made up of cells which require water and without any of it we will die in few days. Wondering how can you save money by saving water? These days government is providing us with the drinking water. They charge us according to the amount of water we use. If the water available will be reduced, government will start charging you with more amounts for the same quantity of water you are being charged less right now. If fresh water is reduced there will come a day when water prices will be higher than the gold prices.

As we are living in a developing country, we will be more affected by the water crisis then the developed countries. It is a true fact that in near future if drinking water is not available, underdeveloped and developing countries will be the ones who will face the burden. Saving water and saving energy have some indirect links. You must know that in order to supply water to different area in the world, government of different countries use pumps to do so.  Energy is required to make these pumps work. If water will not be available in nearby areas more energy will be required to pump water to larger distances. Hence if we are wasting water we are also indirectly wasting energy.

It is necessary to safe fresh water drinking supplies as we are left with contaminated water, it will create health problems. Saving water just not only means to conserve it, but it also means that we should not pollute water bodies. This is another of the main reasons why we need to save water. You must already be aware that water is required in almost every activity we do. We require water not only for drinking, but also for cooking, bathing, washing, to run our industries, etc. In other words we require water for all kind of activities we carry our regularly. We not only require water in the domestic sector but we do require it in the commercial sector also. The heavy machinery we use in our industries requires water to cool them down. Also, many manufacturing processes require water at various stages.  Our industries need to come up with a plan to save water if they don’t want to get shut down.

We are not the only species on this earth that requires water for its survival. As I already said every species on this earth need water to live. We water bodies gets evaporated all the aquatic life will die. We require every organism in the ecosystem to maintain the food chain. Our ecosystem will be depleted completely if do not save water.

The most important reason why we should think of saving water is that fresh water is limited. Out of the 70 percent water available we just have 0.03 percent of fresh water. As the population is increasing day by day, this limited water resource is getting reduced. So in order to save our future generation we need to conserve this limited resource.
